i heart faces: hands

I'm way behind on blogging! I think I'm going to have to kick the husband and little one out to the playground for a couple hours tomorrow so I can devote some daytime hours to getting caught up. :) They need a little man time anyway!

When I saw this week's iheartfaces theme- I immediately thought of this photo I took of a good friend's homecoming. There is an emotion, a meaning that homecoming photos just *vibrate* with. It's part of why I love taking them. This soldier's little girl wouldn't let go of Daddy's hand. And who could blame her?

I Heart Faces: People's Choice

It's been busy around here lately. Well, not on the blog,  but at KLSmith Photography and for me, personally. Which is why it's been so not busy here. 

I'm working on getting caught up- until then, here's a must share from Miss Rileigh's shoot. This pretty ballerina has some serious rock and roll in her and was incredibly fun to shoot. 

I heart Faces: White

I love the white in a sea of multi-cam and how tightly they hugged each other :) 

As an Army Wife, home comings make kind of ridiculously emotional- even when I have no personal relationship with the soldiers coming home. Just walking in the building brings  back all those feelings- the anticipation, the anxiety, the all-consuming excitement, and finally, the relief. 

This homecoming was a friend, a friend who had a little one just a year younger than my little guy. This is such a fun couple and their joy in being together was so palpable. There are more homecoming images in this facebook album. :) There is nothing quite like that feeling.

IHF chose this image as one of the top ten of 2011 and I can't even express how honored I am. As soon as the shock wears off, I'm gonna go dance around my living room.

I heart faces: Favorite Face of May

This is hands down my favorite photo from May. Do you know how hard it is to get 2 guys in a good pose that doesn't look goofy or like they're attempting some random gymnastic movement? Not an easy thing. But this random moment while playing turned out exactly like I wanted it to.

Photo Challenge and Project 365

Project 365 Day 2

The only editing on this photo is to saturate the color just a tad. I'm still not great at messing with the quality on the white, but I'm gonna play with it tomorrow.

I'm also submitting this photo for the i heart faces Best Face of 2010 Challenge. While I don't think it really compares to some of their contributor's photos, I look at it and see the progress I've made over the last year with my shooting. I knew when I took it how it would come out and it was a shot I was trying to get. I couldn't have done this on purpose a year ago.
