Snapping Away

I'm way behind on blogging sessions! But now that the cold weather has chased us indoors I'm planning on spending some serious time buckling down and getting caught up!

For today though, I have a precious little moment that I caught. My two year old adores trains. So this year we set up the model train set that my husband's parents gave him a while back. He is absolutely obsessed. This shot is my favorite this week simply for the fact that it's a rare quiet moment in this house of rumbles and tumbles.

All the train play sparked a fabulous idea for making Christmas morning extra special for my little soldier......want a clue? How about this:

Think you know what's going to be invading our living room on Christmas morning in defense of all those presents? You'll just have to check back and see!

Live Every Moment: Fall

Miss Ana was a part of a simply gorgeous family that I shot last weekend. The leaves and color are *almost* as bright as Miss Ana here :)

I had two homecomings to shoot this weekend. I love homecomings. It's this huge bubble of excitement and tension that explodes into joy. Perfect for LEM's "green" challenge.


You'll never see a more welcome bit of "green" than the uniform of a returning soldier.

You Capture Pink

Spring has lots of pink (which is a favorite color of mine), but lots of dark too. Which we've seen plenty of in wave after wave of severe weather. I'm pretty much over it.

But there are little glimpses of pink just waiting for the storms to pass

I love capturing children just being themselves, in their environment. There is a sweetness about a child when they forget about the camera that you can't get in a portrait.

I introduced the little man to Chick Fil A's strawberry milkshakes this weekend. Of course, he *loved* it. Being able to capture that moment is why I'm so determined to continue learning and developing as a photographer.

This was a tough one for me. I don't think that product photography is in my future :)

These shots of my new desktop tower. My husband had it custom built. It sounds (and looks) like a spaceship preparing for take off when it starts up. But it is capable of handling any photo editing software, all my photos, and any other pursuits that I might want to try.

You Capture: Warmth

The current warm spell we're having started when we still had snow on the ground. I was taking pictures of my dogs playing in the snow and saw this little droplet. It just oozes the promise of spring for me.

The only editing on this photo is to saturate the color just a tad. I'm still not great at messing with the quality on the white, but I'm gonna play with it tomorrow.

I'm also submitting this photo for the i heart faces Best Face of 2010 Challenge. While I don't think it really compares to some of their contributor's photos, I look at it and see the progress I've made over the last year with my shooting. I knew when I took it how it would come out and it was a shot I was trying to get. I couldn't have done this on purpose a year ago.
